Medicaid is a state and federally funded health care coverage plan administered by ODM (Ohio Department of Medicaid). Medicaid provides health care coverage to low-income and medically vulnerable individuals of all ages.

Depending on each individual’s coverage type, monthly premiums or co-pays may apply.

In order to access Ohio Medicaid benefits, a person must be a citizen of the U.S., have a Social Security number, meet certain financial requirements, and be a resident of Ohio. In addition, Medicaid qualifications do in some cases limit other resources, such as property, stocks, bonds, or other assets. However, a residence, personal belongings and a vehicle are typically not taken into account in the limit on resources when Medicaid determines whether a person qualifies for the program.

Medicaid provides health care coverage to a number of different groups of people who meet the financial requirements. There are two major groups and each major group has several programs.
